Accessibility Statement
Last updated: July 12, 2026
At Van Dyke Coffee LA, our whole idea is a room where everyone gets a good seat. That belief doesn't stop at our front door — it shapes how we build our website, too. We want every visitor, including people with disabilities, to be able to find our hours, read our story, place an order, and reach us just as easily as anyone else.
We are committed to providing a website and a café that are accessible to the widest possible audience, and to treating every guest with dignity, patience, and respect.
Our Commitment & Standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA — the internationally recognized standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
Accessibility is built into how we make this site — it's a starting requirement on every page, not a finishing touch.
What We've Done
Steps we take to keep this website usable for everyone include:
- Clear structure. Real headings, landmarks, and page titles so screen-reader users can understand and navigate each page.
- Full keyboard access. Every menu, link, button, and form can be operated with a keyboard alone — no mouse required — with a visible focus outline that shows where you are, and a "skip to main content" link to jump past the menu.
- Readable color and contrast. Text is chosen to meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios so it stays legible.
- Text alternatives. Meaningful images carry descriptive alternative text; purely decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Labeled forms. Every form field has a real, programmatic label, and errors and confirmations are announced, not shown by color alone.
- Zoom and reflow. Pages remain usable when text is enlarged up to 200%, and the layout adapts to small screens.
- Respect for motion preferences. If your device asks for reduced motion, we turn off non-essential animation. Pinch-to-zoom is never disabled.
- Generous touch targets. Interactive controls are sized to be easy to tap or click.
Accessibility at the Café
Being disability-understanding means more than code. When you visit us on Olympic:
- Service animals are always welcome.
- Our team is happy to read the menu aloud, describe items, help carry your order to a table, or assist however we can — just ask any staff member.
- If something about visiting in person would be easier a different way, tell us. We'll do our best to accommodate you.
Ongoing Effort
Accessibility is a continuous process, not a one-time project. We regularly review our website, test with automated and manual tools, and work to fix issues as we find them. Some content provided by third parties (for example, our online ordering platform, embedded maps, or social media) is partly outside our direct control, but we choose partners with accessibility in mind and will help you complete any task those tools are involved in.
We recognize that no website is ever perfectly accessible to everyone, and we welcome the chance to keep improving.
We Want Your Feedback
If you run into a barrier on this site, need information in a different format, or would like to request an accommodation, please tell us. Your feedback helps us do better, and we treat every message seriously. We aim to respond within 3 business days.
